Day43: Montreal to Toronto
350 miles, 7.6 hours.
We packed up and got on the road. Rode over to the Montreal Biosphere. It's a very neat looking structure. Until I researched it for this trip, I didn't know the structure was originally enclosed. I really like the look of the sphere, but I knew I would.

We then went to the next tiny island over, which is the home to the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve Formula One track. The track is open for very limited driving, as well as pedestrian uses. We got on the track and went to the hairpin turn, then Tamara sat in the corner while I practiced some cornering through the hairpin. I'd wait until there weren't any bicycles coming, then run it somewhat aggressively in second gear.

I made a half-dozen passes until a nice rent-a-security-person in a car came and discussed my activities. I have no idea what she was saying, since I don't speak a lot of French, but she was giving me a list of grievances. We promptly got going. I knew that was probably going to happen, but it was still worthwhile to have fun on the corner like that.
The circuit is interesting, but it wouldn't work well as a motorcycle course. There's no runoff room, and the walls are so close that there wouldn't even be enough room for an airfence.

Cool but weird architecture. What's it called?

After that, we slabbed our way out of Montreal and started heading toward our friend's place in Toronto. It's a 300-mile trip, so Tamara and I alternated piloting duties. We had a couple spots of rain, but it was otherwise a incident-free trip. The terrain, though fairly flat, is very pretty. I like being places with lots of varieties of trees.
We arrived at Peter's place during the evening rush hour. We somehow missed the heavy traffic (it was going the other direction), though once we got into the downtown streets it was pretty crazy. Thankfully, Canadians are pleasant drivers and the DL650 is a fantastic city assault bike.
