4/20: Tulum to Puerto Morelos - more of the bike parts scramble (Tamara posting)
(Tamara posting)
First thing this morning Ted got back online to keep looking for things for the bike repair. He (with the help of friends) found a couple bike shops that should be able to help do the work on the bike once the parts get here (we have to cut off the old chain and use a tool from back home to rivet the new one together). After some more waiting, we got a confirmation from his mom to visit, so booked the tickets for her, and were able to use our airline miles for it! That means we should get our parts Monday when she flies down. We also found another hotel that is closer to Cancun and should be a bit nicer, but not very much more expensive. Our biker friends back home are great, and helping us out a ton. It is nice to have some of these things lined up, and Ted did all the work, so it's been a little stressful for him.
After figuring out a bunch of that stuff we packed up the bike again, went into town to pick up our laundry, then rode from Tulum up to Puerto Morelos - another hour on the bike. The chain slipped a lot, and it was a fairly nerve-wracking ride, but we should be able to park it now until the parts come in and we take it to get fixed. We wandered around town a bit to find reasonable food for lunch, and again, everything here is amazingly expensive. I got a pair of sunglasses finally, and my eyes are much happier now. We cooled off in the room, with our lovely A/C, and took a nice nap for siesta.
We may head out to the beach, as the water looked gorgeous earlier and I would love a wade or dip in the ocean.
We also took advantage of the Internet access to finish up our stock sale (so we aren't as worried about funds now), and we can't finish posting without acknowledging that today is 4/20.Subscribe to Posts [Atom]
