While in Quito, Tamara took private Spanish lessons from Monica who came to our apartment. At the end of our stay in Quito, Monica asked for a ride on the motorcycle because she had never been on one before! That was really surprising because there are so many bikes in Latin America. We got her dressed in Tamara's gear, which looked ridiculous on her because she is so much shorter than us- well under 5 feet. Tamara had a fun time with the lessons - they were flexible and that let her incorporate discussions about medicine and the volunteering experiences from the clinic.
